About Us

Members of the Queanbeyan-Canberra Sub-Branch of the  NSW Branch Inc were asked to vote asking whether or not they wanted an ACT Branch to be formed in Canberra and the majority voted in favour. This result was passed on to a National Steering Committee who then presented it to Branch Delegates to vote on its inclusion at the next National Council Meeting, which took place in Canberra on the 18th March 2010.

The Australian Capital Territory Branch's inclusion was voted on and the majority of Branch Delegates voted in favour. On the 18th March 2010 at the National Council of the National Servicemen's Association of Australia a new State/ Territory Branch of our Association was created.  After serving as a Sub-Branch for just over 10 years the National Executive felt that as work was being carried out, in Canberra, on the construction our Memorial at the Australian War Memorial a voice was needed on their behalf in the National Capital and so the national steering committee was formed to look into the possibility of an ACT Branch being formed. The ACT Branch Inc. was formally incorporated on the sixth of May 2010.

We intend to continue close ties with the NSW Branch as they border the ACT. In the early days, when we were first chartered by the NSW Branch Inc we included Monaro as part of our Sub-Branch but, after a short learning period, we assisted our members in the Cooma District to form their own Sub-Branch of the NSW State Branch Inc.

Over the years which followed the Cooma Sub-Branch grew in both numbers and strength and is today a very well organized and managed Sub-Branch with a growing membership.

We, as a young Branch, hope that the things learnt as a Sub-Branch of NSW Inc and, under a strong leadership of the State/Territory Executive, are able to continue on the with the aims and wishes of the National Servicemen’s Association of Australia.

If you do not find all the information  you need to make that decision to join us please  contact one of our team members who will be  pleased to make you acquainted with all there is to know about us and should you decide to join we assure you that you wont be disappointed.

Over the years our membership has, and still does continue to grow and we know that any new member will be assured of finding like thinking friends amongst our ranks.

We do conduct many events, both military and social and try to cater for the likes of both our Members and their partners.

Our Aims

As we have only recently been established as the last State/Territory Branch of the National Servicemen's Association of Australia our main aim is to encourage all ex-Nashos living in the ACT and surrounding area to join with us and be in a better position to assist all Nashos within our area to live better lives.

We also offer our assistance to all ex-National Servicemen who haven't as yet received the medals which they are intitled to to make application to the Department of Honours & Awards to have it/them issued.

For Our Members

To keep our Members up to date with all events and happenings both within our ACT Branch and Nationally each month we produce our ACT Branch Inc Newsletter 'natinfo' which is sent to all Members through the mail.

This newsletter advises of all events both Branch and Social  which are forthcoming. We, through our Social Committee, try to have an event every second month and these range from bus trips or Military outings such as ANZAC Day, Battle For Australia Day, National Servicemen's Day, Remembrance Day,  Reserve Forces Day etc.
